Hi, I have noticed all along that his phonemic awareness skills are weak. I didn’t work on that specifically other than syllabication. He was always either bad at that or just seemed bad at it compared to his younger brother who has seemingly perfect phonemic awareness, as do I. He is adopted, and I know his bio mom has dyslexia. His younger brother is not adopted, but my husband probably has Dyslexia so I start very early with all my kids just in case I have problems I could catch it all early. Is it general opinion that weak phonemic awareness will cause problems later even if he is such a great reader now? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
